About This Product
Citric Acid
Citric acid occurs as colourless crystals or as a white, crystalline powder. It is an odourless substance with a strongly acidic taste. Citric acid is a naturally occurring fruit acid produced commercially through microbial fermentation of a carbohydrate substrate. It is an excellent pH regulator and odourless buffering agent for bath and shower gels, creams, styling or decoration products.
Applications:
- Lotions
- Use with sodium Bicarbonate to make bath bombs
- Use in cleaning product to remove grease
- Use as a water softener added to soaps and laundry detergents
- In shampoos to remove wax and colouring from hair
- Helps remove limescale, rust, and hard water stains
Properties:
- Buffering effect (helps to maintain pH between 2.5-6.5 & stabilizes active ingredients)
- Chelating effect (neutralises minerals to enhance the activity of antioxidants & preservatives)
- AHA properties (moisturizing, peeling, smoothing, anti-wrinkle effects)

We will ship goods using WBT’s nominated service provider. We are not able to use any customer-provided courier services.

Note: Citric acid is considered safe for use as it is milder and gentler than most other acids. However, it may cause redness and irritation on highly sensitive skin. Therefore, a patch test is recommended. Since Citric acid exfoliates the skin deeply, it becomes more susceptible to the harmful rays of the sun. Therefore, a sunscreen with good SPF should be used after treating the skin with Citric acid.
